Girl Scout Troop #41490

Adventure and Compassion

We spelunk through caves, swing down ziplines, and sleep in yurts.
We serve dinner to the homeless, paint murals about the environment,
and collect food for our local pantry.

Mural: Painting Opinions

First we read Breathe, a Girl Scout Journey book about air pollution. Then we split into groups to complete Silver Award Projects using some ideas from the book.

This group of five girls decided to paint a mural titled Solutions to Pollution to liven up and educate their neighborhood. Content included a windmill, a car with a line through it (no idling), a house with solar panels, people walking and biking, and a plastic bag in the water with a line through it.  In other words, bring your own bags to stores!

They limited their palette to five colors (blue, green, yellow, purple, and brown) in order to unify the mural, excellent advice from a local artist.  An area paint store kindly donated materials.
